In school Ryan is learning about the history of Riverton, the city we live in. For a project they had to do a Riverton Treasure Hunt. There was a list of things and they had to pick five things to do that took them around Riverton. Also, there was another section that they had to choose five things to include pictures of. It was actually really fun and I wish we had more time to do it!
I had card swap to host, so Josh took Ryan around and they did a great job!
A couple of the things he had to do was get a take out menu from a Riverton restaurant, find leaves from 10 different trees in Riverton and sample "something yummy" from a Riverton Bakery, store or shop. For the restaurant they chose Thai Basil because we love their pad thai! Then they went over to the Riverton Home Depot and picked leaves from the trees. Hey! They were trees in Riverton, it totally counts! :-)
Ryan showing off the donuts he's going to pick!
Showing that he actually bought them from the store! :-)
He had to go to the cemetery and take a picture picture with an old headstone...
The wife died in 1903 and the husband died in 1917...I'd say that's pretty old! :-)
He had to find something that the pioneers would have used so they found this old wagon!
This is Ryan showing his favorite park and his favorite thing about the park. :-)
He had to find a historical marker and luckily Josh remembered there was one in front of the IFA that was in remembrance of the Riverton Station.
Here's the whole plaque for the curious. :-)
Another historical marker they found was for the Magnificent Dome Church. It's no longer standing but it was pretty cool to read about it!
And last but most certainly not least, Ryan needed a picture with a long time Riverton Resident. Of course our lovely Lisa was our first choice because she's lived here for 41 years! She said she wished we had more time cause she would have taken us over to her Dad's house cause he's lived in Riverton for 83 years!!
So there you have it! Ryan's Riverton Treasure Hunt. :-) Josh and I are going to get a copy of the paper and see if we can take all three boys to find all of the things they had on the list. What a fun way to learn about our city!

Another thing he had to do was show a place in Riverton where people go to have fun. They picked the swimming pool and golf course! Two things that Ryan LOVES!
