Over a week?!

Wow...I'm sorry, there I go saying that I'll be better at updating and I totally slack off! In my defense it was buy back week at the bookstore so I worked 9-4:30pm Mon-Thurs. Then on Friday and Saturday we helped our friends (although I don't know that I can still call them that since they LEFT ME!!! :-() move into their new house. Their house is so beautiful and I'm TOTALLY jealous of it! :-) And then today I had Tate and Tucker here to play with Ryan while Amber got a little bit of a break to get stuff finished up. Ryan has SO much fun with them so it's awesome to have them here to keep him busy! :-)
This week is our spring break so that is nice. I'm hoping to get our house back in a working condition this week. I've fallen WAY behind on my Motivated Mom's list, so I need to get back with that and I also need to knock out the mountain of laundry that I have waiting for me! I also need to go through the boys clothes and get rid of stuff that doesn't fit anymore.
Tonight I went running. I've completely started over on Josh's couch to 5k. It went okay tonight...I'm definitely going to have to get my endurance back up. Which sucks, but it's better than wearing myself completely out because I'm trying to do more than I'm ready for.
I've taken all of spring break off of work. Ryan had one REALLY big issue at school. So I'm trying to see if me being at home will help his attitude. If it does then we will definitely be having to rearrange my schedule. We really can't go back to where he was a few months ago. I need to make sure that I'm doing everything I can to help him. That being said, he's doing SOOOO good at his reading. He's learning to not just GUESS what he thinks the word is, but actually sound it out. And this week we get to do his Flat Stanley project so we've been taking him everywhere we go. :-) Tomorrow, Ryan needs to sit down and write in his journal about all the things that Flat Stanley has done with us.
Cole is just a little character!! He's taken a few steps here and there, but I think he's still being pretty cautious. Usually he takes steps when he's not realizing that he's NOT holding on to something. But he's doing great and growing...I'm pretty sure that Dr. Bartlett will be happy that he's gaining weight!! :-)
Okay I think that's about it...I need to start update more so these updates aren't so dang LONG!! :-)

Sad day, happy day...

So my day started out a little sad...usually when I don't have to work, I get to drop Ryan off to school. Usually we get to the school, we race to the court yard and then find his friends. After that he gives me a hug and kiss and then I leave.
Today was different.
We pulled up in front of the school and I parked the car. I unbuckled and Ryan said "Mom, you stay in the car. I'm just going to give you a hug and kiss here." So he did and then he ran off to the court yard...without me. :-( How sad is that!
But it did get better cause after we picked up Ryan, we got to go have lunch with Josh and then we dropped off presents. Two women in our ward had babies, one is my VT companion and the other I work with on the Enrichment Committee. So I got to drop off their presents since we won't be at church and see and cuddle beautiful, tiny babies!! So that kind of made up for my crummy morning.
Now we are going to take a quick, late nap and then get to work. Luckily tonight Josh only has to work until 5pm, so that is nice. I have a paper to write, not so nice. Okay, I'd better get going...there is a stinky bum that is calling my name. :-)

What a week...

So I haven't posted since Saturday, so I should probably fill you all in on what's going on. On Sunday I was called to be the second counselor in the Primary of our ward. I'm super excited about this calling. The bishop was wonderful about asking and making sure that our family could handle the extra responsibility. Josh was very supportive and although I'm not sure where I'm going to come up with the extra time, I am sure that we will be blessed for it. :-)
Cole hasn't been sleeping super great this week. It hasn't been too bad, but basically he wants to only snuggle with me if he's nursing, otherwise he wants to sleep with Daddy. I know Josh is feeling special that Cole is wanting him more, but I think it's causing both of us to get less sleep than normal.
Work has been going wonderful for Josh as usual. He's staying really busy and that is good. He also got a call back about a pt job with AmeriCorps doing stuff with the trails and parks around Longview. The extra money would be nice and at the end of the contract Josh will get a 2300.00 scholarship for school. YAY!
Ryan is doing wonderful too. His attitude has improved greatly. He still has his moments, but we aren't having the complete and total meltdowns that we were. We are still trying out some things. He's responded really well to some things and not so well to others. He did have to sit in the blue (timeout) chair at school because he took a chunk out of his hair with the scissors. When we spike his hair up in the front it's not as noticable, but there is really no way of hiding it completely. Oh well. I honestly think cutting hair is a right of passage or something. A few of you know that I don't have a lot of memories from my childhood, only a handful from before the age of 8 or 9. But I DO remember very specifically sitting under my mom's sewing table and butchering my hair. It was so bad that my mom actually made Jenn get her hair cut super short too so I wouldn't feel bad. Thanks Jenn. :-) So yeah, things are going better with Ryan and I'm hoping that it continues and keeps getting better.
I'm doing well...tired, but okay. School is going well and so is work. I'm glad that I have a job that I like to go to and it doesn't require me to have to worry about it after I leave. :-) We don't have school tomorrow, so they did a little halloween party in the student center today. They had kareoke and I got up and busted out a little Black Velvet...so that was fun! :-) After work and my Chem group, I picked up Josh and we went and got the boys. Miss Carolyn had made special Halloween cookies for us and when we got in the car, Ryan asked if we could go "looking around". That meant he wanted to take a drive up in the hills to look for deer. We got VERY lucky this time and got to see two deer. Ryan and I got out of the car and got very close. We were probably no more than eight feet from the deer. They were both does and kept a careful eye on us while we watched them. We drove around a little more after that. The trees and leaves were just beautiful. Ryan kept saying how pretty the golden leaves were. :-)
Tomorrow I don't have school or work, so I am going to take the Ryan to school and spend the morning with Cole. Then I am going to take the boys to Miss Carolyn's for a couple hours after Ryan gets out of school, because she is making a special Halloween lunch for them and then I can have time to finish Ryan's Spider costume. We are going to get the boys in their costumes and if it's not raining we are going to take the boys to the lake and get some pictures of them. Seriously, the leaves and trees and so gorgeous right now! Then we are going to trick or treat in the neighborhood around the lake cause I hear that's where the best candies are. :-) After that, it will be off to the church trunk or treat and carnival. I'll be sure to take lots of pictures, but I can't guarantee when I'll get them put up. :-)
So I think that's about it...how's that for a super long post! LOL!

SOOOOOOOOO HAPPY!

So this morning I stepped on the scale and I am officially free of the baby weight!!! I am now at my prepregnancy weight!! Obviously I still have more to lose to get to my goal weight but I'm just so happy to be at least back where I started! I'm excited to have reached this goal and hope the next will come quickly!
In other news we met Ryan's new teacher. I know I mentioned before that the classes were overly full, well they had split them, but the afternoon teacher had been teaching all day, so last Friday they had hired a new one to take over the AM class. Ryan was a little bummed in his words he "had Mrs. West first". LOL! When we came in today, she said that Ryan was one of her best students. She said she could ALWAYS count on him to be doing exactly what she asked. That of course made us feel SO proud! Also, his writing is doing SO much better! He has thoroughly impressed us by grabbing his magnadoodle and writing letters and his name. I can't tell you how happy I am with how well he is doing in school and adjusting.
I started my work study job at the bookstore on Monday. It's been going well and it's fun work too! Cole has been doing well at daycare, I think he's getting used to not having me all day with him. But I know he will be great. :-) Okay, well I'm very sleep and have a long day tomorrow so I'm off to bed! :-)

The second day...

Ryan's second day went MUCH better! He still cried a little when I left, but when I came to get him, all he could talk about was how much fun he had and how they glued coconuts on their pictures. :-) They read the Chicka Chika Boom Boom book. I think it's going to take a couple weeks for him to realize that he's going to be going to school EVERY weekday.:-) He seems right now to think it's a choice to go. LOL! Silly boy! So here's to hoping it just gets easier and easier! :-) Thank you all for your sweet comments on his first day!

His picture. :-)

Ryan's first day of Kindergarten...

This is the last picture I took of Ryan while he was still my non school going baby on 08/27/08

And another sleeping pic...this was just before he woke up this morning.

Ryan and Josh. Ryan was enjoying his breakfast of AppleJacks and Josh had to leave before Ryan did, so I grabbed a picture of them.

Ryan's silly face!

Being a dork...

Being mad because I wouldn't let him be a dork.

This pic probably makes me the saddest...walking away from me to go to school.

Trying to be brave...

Edging towards the circle...

being a dork again when I came to pick him up. :-)

So the day started a little rough...due to some problems with a hiring freeze, there were FIFTY kids in the morning class! Of course there were tons of parents too so the whole room was just chaos. Ryan was completely overwhelmed so it was really rough for him. They said by wednesday, they will have the AM class split, so that is good. I left and he was crying, so of course I started crying...but he had one of the teacher's helpers sitting with him. When I came to pick him up they said he did wonderful and he didn't want to leave! LOL! I'm hoping tomorrow will go a little smoother. My baby isn't my baby anymore. :-( I'm old!

Glad it's Wednesday...

Today will be filled with doing lots of laundry and lots of cleaning. Josh has our room basically put together the way it should be. I need to get Ryan to put all his toys away and help me make his bed. Josh scrubbed the bathroom over the weekend so that leaves me with the living room, dining room and kitchen to put back together. Tomorrow I will probably spend cooking and baking. I'm going to make up some batches of waffles, pancakes and french toast that Josh can just pop in the microwave for him and Ryan for breakfasts. Also I'm going to get some roll dough made. Our small freezer is getting quite full, but that is good. Meals will be one less thing we have to worry about. Maybe once I get everything stuffed in there, I'll take a picture...cause it's kind of funny! I think things are finally coming together which is nice, because it's possible that Josh is started to get a little freaked. :-) He gave me a lecture the other morning about how I needed to have a bag for me and Ryan ready to go. He was also "nesting" all weekend which was pretty funny. :-) I think the realization of it all is hitting him and he just wants to make sure that everything is ready. So I guess that's a nother thing I should put on my list to make Josh feel better is to get mine and Ryan's bags together. :-) So the rest of this week is going to be pretty busy for me. I have to get Ryan registered for kindergarten tomorrow and then Friday I have another dr's appt. Then we drive down to Eugene for the baby shower on Saturday and I get to see all my friends!!! :-) Then basically any time after that it's okay if I have Cole. :-) I've been trying really hard to not jinx myself by not counting on going into labor early. It doesn't mean I don't hope!! :-)
An update on mom...she's doing really good. I talked to her yesterday and she said she stood on her own twice for three seconds. They are getting her standing which is great! She's always exhausted after her therapy, but I think that helps her sleep better at night. Her good friend Donna is coming out to stay with her until the 7th or so. Then after that, her other good friend Kristi is coming to stay with her for a week. She loves having visitors cause it keeps spirits up and keeps her busy. While Jenn was there, she put up all the cards, letters and pictures that have been sent to mom and everyone had commented about how happy mom's room looks.
Well I think that's about all for now. I'd better get to work if I plan on getting anything done. :-)
